ATVP STOP Training

The annual STOP training held by ATVP was a great success thanks to the amazing presentation given by Anne Munch!  Pictured here is some of the staff, volunteers and local law enforcement officials that joined together to learn from her.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month 2009
 
On September 29th, during the city council meeting, Pullman Mayor Glenn Johnson signed and read a proclamation declaring that October be recognized as "Domestic Violence Awareness Month".

On October 5th, during the city council meeting, Moscow Mayor Nancy Chaney made an identical proclamation.
 
October 2nd - The UI  B.E.A.R.(Brotherhood Empowerment Against Rape) organization, along with the UI Women's Center, sponsored an awareness and fundraising event "Walk a Mile in her Shoes".  Check in began at 11 a.m. and the "walk" began at NOON at the Dan O'Brien Track and Field Complex.
 
October 7th - Kick-off of our PURPLE RIBBON PROJECT.  We put purple ribbons on the lampposts on Main Street in Pullman.  Each lamppost had a memorial for a victim of a domestic violence fatality and was displayed all month.                                   
October 10th - The PURPLE RIBBON PROJECT was available on Moscow Main Street immediately following the Farmer's Market.
October 12th through October 16th - ATVP had a presence each day on the WSU campus from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. during the week without violence "Clothesline Project".
 
October 13th - The WSU Police and Women's Resource Center hosted a forum focusing on crime scenes and victims' rights from 4:00 p.m until 6:00 p.m at the CUB.
 
October 14th - ATVP participated in the "Take Back the Night" march at the Glenn Terrell Mall on the WSU campus.
 
 
October 17th - ATVP had an information sharing table at the Moscow Food Co-Op as recipients of the "Dime in Time" program sponsored by the Co-Op. 
October 26th - ATVP showed the movie "Sin by Silence" at the Kenworthy Theater in downtown Moscow to begin at 7:00 p.m..  The movie is a documentary about a group of women who, from behind bars after having killed their abusive partners, are advocating for change in the criminal justice system. A panel discussion followed the viewing.
October 28th - WSU Women's Resource Center and ATVP co-sponsored the same movie to be followed by a panel discussion in the WSU CUE building.
